Cleaning house during Covid-19
My tenants are about to move out. They had me cancel viewings while they lived there because one of them was sent home from work with a fever. This is in Seattle, which has had a major outbreak.
I had asked if they were tested, and if not, indicated they/I would need to have the place sanitized before I have anyone else go into the place.
They wrote back saying their health is none of my business, that they have cleaned the house, and even though they weren't tested, they don't have coronavirus.
My question, would it be ok to deduct from their security deposit the cost of sanitizing the house?
