Is this legit short term corporate (insurance) rental procedure?

Hi,

Maybe someone here can provide me some feedback on my first short term lease opportunity. An insurance company placement service has negotiated a displaced tenant's stay in one of my homes and I have accepted the lease terms via email. However, the next day I woke up in a panic realizing that although I have met the potential tenants that I do not know who they are. The agent never had them return my rental application and I don't even know their full names!

Also, in the email acceptance of the stay the placement service states that the lease contract is between me and tenant and that they are not liable for anything. So now I'm worried that I would have no recourse if tenants overstay or if payments stop arriving for some reason.

One more thing, it was me who actually ended up providing confide til information in the form of my SS number on a W9 to the placement service!

Can anyone please tell me if this is typical or if I should demand the rental app and background check or simply back out?

Thanks in advance!
