Tenant wants compensation!
Hi guys,
I have a lease agreement with my tenant to start moving in on April 1. However, on March 15, my contractor was working on the floor that supposes to take two days to finish. The job was stopped because neighboring complaining about the noise to the management building. With the 19 viruses going on, the management delays my contractor to finish the half-done job on April 8th because the state shut down essential business until April 7th. In this case, I have to delay my tenant from moving on from April 1st to 15th. The tenant told me that she has everything packed and moving company ready for April 1st and she's asking for compensation for the delay for April rent-free and another $2000 rent credit to May for the inconvenience. I understand it's frustrating for the delay and agrees with the April month for free but she's asking another $2000. I feel like it's too much for something that I can't control but I want to be fair. What should I do here? Should I grant tenant's require?
Thanks in advance
