Real Estate Attorney
Hello,
I am in process of buying my first investment property. I heard that it may be advisable to get a real estate attorney. Do you agree with this? Also, what if I am buying the property out of state, would I need to get a real estate attorney in the state I buy the property in?
Thanks,
Hector

@Hector Lewis which state is the property in? If you are in a state like Illinois, then you will definitely have an attorney as some states are attorney close states. Other states are title close only states. In those states, you are welcome to get an attorney but it is not part of the normal process. Whatever you do, make sure that your attorney is being paid a flat rate for the whole thing. In Illinois it is common for attorneys to charge 600-700 per closing, but you don't have a running clock to worry about.
