Accidental misfire in my apartment

Brandi Baker
Posted

I was in my apartment alone when my dog started barking and i could hear someone in the rocks close to my door.  Having lived in a previous apartment where someone has tried to break in twice while i was home i pulled my gun out to be safe, a bit later after i was ok to put the gun back i took the clip out and was trying to release the bullet in the chamber. I have severe eczema on my hands that crack and bleed and i didn't have a good grip on the gun and in trying to remove to bullet the gun slipped and went off and through the wall. First thing i did was go next store to check on my neighbors i knocked 4 times and shouted to see if anyone was home. No one answered so i went over to the balcony to see if i could see anyone in the apartment. All the lights were off and i didn't think anyone was home. So i went home. The bullet was hollow point and i was told they are not supposed to ricochet or go though multiple walls. And no one was home so i didn't call the cops because we were on lockdown because of the Coronavirus and no one was injured i was terrified so in my judgement i didn't think it was an emergency. I went over and checked to see if anybody was home at least 4 more times before going home and going to bed. The cops came at 2 am in the morning when they got home . and i told them everything that happened they took my gun and gave me a ticket for a court date. Im worried about getting evicted i have a clean record and have already spoke with the leasing office saying i will cover damages. Im terrified im going to get evicted any advice would be great really.
