Felony on SmartMove

Chris Chase
Posted

Hi guys new here, been a LL for 6 years on a SFH, currently in the process of getting new tenants for the 4th time.

I’ve already rejected this applicant for too many red flags and too low credit score, but what has me stumped is the criminal record on the SmartMove results.  It listed 2 marijuana possession arrests in Iowa, with dates and court dates and outcomes.  It also listed a felony out of NY for level 4 drug possession, but little other info, not even a date, though it did include a case number.  Is there a site that provides more criminal information than SmartMove?

Head's up to anyone looking to use SmartMove. I'm having an issue with a tenant at move-out and in digging further on my own, I found that she had an eviction 6yrs ago under a different last name. I would have thought SmartMove as an arm of TransUnion would have caught this, but was just informed by their customer service that they only do a check based on name and where previously lived, NOT by social security number. If I had known that, I would have just done a deeper dig online myself! Won't waste my time running any checks with them again!!
