Lease Termination for A Tenant Allowed to Stay an Extra 30 Days

Posted

Purchasing a duplex with tenants with a lease ending March 30th. They've asked for extra time to find another rental. My realtor has added an amendment to the agreement that requires the seller to provide 60 days notice to vacate the premises. My closing is set for March 24th. I've agreed to allow the tenants to stay until April 30th. Should I have the tenants sign a lease for the exact time period - April 1-30? Would the same rules apply when it comes to sending a termination letter? Or would the 60 day notice (from today that would be April 19th) suffice?
