Sudha, it has been impossible to find a breakeven investment property in the bay area the past 3-4 years. Many investors are/have found properties in the central valley - between 1-1.5 hours driving radius from the bay area (Stockton, Sacramento, Turlock, Tracy, Modesto...list goes on). For new investors, buying out of state property can be difficult to digest than something in a couple of hours driving distance. It has worked for us and happy to provide you my point-of-view. PM me if you would like to chat. Thanks.
