Question about Landlord Responsibilities

Ruben Hunter
Posted

One of my tenants told me they were afraid that their young kids would open the front door and run out. So they wanted me to come and install a chain?

I just wanted to see what you all thought? I understand her worry but don’t particularly want to install an ugly chain on the door.

@Ruben Hunter  If she wants to install one, she can do it and put it up high near the top of the door.  She will need to pay to have it removed once she moves out (ie fill and paint the holes).  Depending on the door knob, she can also install child proof covers over the inside handle which prevents kids from opening the door.
