Eviction Process in Milwaukee County
Hey everyone! I just closed on my second duplex in the Bay View/Milwaukee area about 4 weeks ago. The upper tenant was on a month-to-month contract and was a family member of the prior landlord. Shortly after closing, I notified the upper tenant that I would not be renewing her lease, but wanted to give her until 3/30 to move out.
Low and behold rent came due for February and the tenant did not pay. She also blocked my cell phone number and is not allowing me to contact her. On Thursday I went to her unit and tried to see if she was home, I posted a 5-day pay or vacate notice on her door.
I’m looking to hear from other landlords for legal advice on how to handle this process/protect my investment. After the 5 days have passed, do I file the claim with the county. Thanks everyone!
