Portland, OR ADU rental
Hey gang! Longtime-lurker/seldom-poster here — recent transplant to PDX from the east coast, and my wife and I are in the process of closing on our primary residence, just north of OHSU, which has a fully separate ADU on-site. It's currently setup as a large studio without a kitchen, but we plan to eventually erect a wall to create a bedroom, and install a kitchenette.
My question is, knowing how persnickety Portland is with regard to Airbnb, would it be a smarter strategy to rent it out on a longer-term basis to a regular tenant? Or would I get more bang for my buck marketing it on Airbnb, VRBO, etc, in spite of needing the short term rental permit and hotel tax and so forth?
Thanks!
