New tenant claims black mold in washing machine
They just moved in yesterday....
I'm going out there to take a look. Any specific suggestions on how to handle this?

It is quite common, you're right. You can tell them that and how to prevent it from growing-basically leave the door ajar when not in use. There are many types of mold-and lots look black, but they aren't all harmful.
