NYC sub-tenant rights in month-to-month exit (no lease)

I am currently renting a room in an NYC apartment on a month-to-month basis. I do not have a lease. I make all my monthly rental payments on time to the leaseholder, who is the male half of the married couple I live with. I am not perfect, but I clean up after myself, do not invite guests over, and pay my bills in a timely manner.

The couple and I had been friends and spent time together socially for a lot of the year I've lived here, but I eventually started to like them less--casual racism, overbearing manners, etc. Plus the female roommate referred to using my bank account in the near future to wire her mother money in Asia, which is basically the beginning of every internet scam.

I had an argument with the couple at the beginning of January 2020 and I began looking for a new place to live. When they found out I was looking, the male roommate/leaseholder gave me thirty days--until February 7--to move out, despite the fact that I hadn't yet found a place. I did eventually find a new place and am scheduled to move in for February 1.

My question: Am I obligated to pay my current roommate through February 7? It's a full week after I've moved into another apartment. I can see them being vindictive about it and taking it out of my deposit (oh, I got a sternly-worded email from the male leaseholder about the stringent cleanliness specifications of getting my deposit back after he issued the 30-day notice, too).

Thank you in advance for your help.
