Interacting with existing tenants of new property

Jacob Kissling
Posted

Yesterday I closed on my first rental property, a tri-plex with all the units rented out. My question is how would you first make contact with the tenants ? Should I go knock on their doors, call them or have the management company make first contact? My business partner thinkss it would be a good idea if they didn't have any of our personal information that way they have to go through the management company. Is that a good strategy? I am obviously very new at this. I'm half way through the Rental Property Investing bigger pockets book.

Thanks for the help!

Do everything through your manager. If you jump in right away, you will be the first call when the tenant wants to go over the head of the manager. Do everything you can remotely and trust your PM.
