Question About BRRR Investing

In the BRRR investing process, you buy, renovate and then rent (followed by a refinance but that is irrelevant to my question). My question is regarding the renovation period. Most of the time there is no tenant living in the home when you are renovating, so do you have to take into account that those months while you are renovating you will have to pay the mortgage out of pocket? or should you find repairs that take less time?
