Short Term Rental permit in Twentynine Palms

I'm about to invest in property we want to turn into a short term rental in Twentynine Palms and have been researching the process of applying for a permit. I'm curious if anyone else has done this in the high desert and what the process was like? There are a few properties we are looking at that seem like they would work great - but given how old they are, I'm not sure if everything in there has been permitted, so I don't want to invest in something we would need to put a ton of work into just to get the STR permit.

Would love any insight anyone has!
