Will a newer looking deck affect home value?

I am a GC working for a landlord in Connecticut. He is getting one of his properties ready for the banks appraisal and wants to powerwash, sand, and stain the deck. My question is: is it really worth it? The deck is certainly and older deck however it isnt rotting, covered in moss, or anything bad, its just an older deck. The color is faded but thats about it. Do you guys think putting 1500 into a deck is worth it? I dont see how this could increase the value of the home but hey maybe im wrong.
