Returning Security Deposit
What would you do with the security deposit if the tenant wishes to break the lease early?
The tenant mother/roommate passed away. The tenant no longer wishes to occupy the property. I decided to release her from lease and not charge her for the remaining months of her lease. I used the last month deposit to cover her last month rent (rookie move I know). The tenant has inquired about getting the security deposit back as well. She has 3 months left on her lease. Would you return the security deposit or keep the security deposit.
Sincerely an inexperienced landlord (Florida)
