Who Writes Your Lease Agreements?

I am preparing to list my first rental in a new area and am giving some thought to how I might approach fleshing out the lease agreement itself. I’m wondering if anyone has any feedback.

How did you write and prepare your most recent lease document? Did you hire someone? Did you get a solid foundational document from a friend in the industry and then Taylor it to your needs? Did you develop your own through blood seat and years over the years? Curious to get everyone’s experience with this. Thank you!

Yes, you can buy a lease from BP or from an attorney. The attorney lease may be legal but it's typically not well-tailored to a Landlord or Property Manager.

I wrote my own based on my experience and research of lease agreements from around the country. HOWEVER, I then took it to my local attorney for review and approval before using it. I wanted to ensure it meets my state law and that I'm not guilty of practicing law.
