Stolen rent
Our landlord and husband spoke this morning about how he hasn't gotten our last two month's rent, but when my husband said we did pay them both he did say he believed him (and he should, we really did pay it). Our question is if we put the rent money on his property, in his drop box, as instructed and as we have for the last two years, is it his liability or ours that it was stolen from his property? He's saying if we end up having to pay it again he'll at least make sure it's not all at once, but my question is whether we should even have to or whether it's HIS responsibility, having been taken from his property. We're not on a lease, and again, he did outright say that he believes us....
Thank you...

Are you dropping cash into a lockbox? Sorry, but that's crazy if you are. A check, sure, because you can see who cashes it. But cash? Neither of you can prove anything.
Unfortunately I have no idea how that would play out in court.
