Security Deposit Rules in NJ

Hi All,

Hoping you can shed some advice with NJ laws on returning a security deposit. I follow Grant Cardone and I rent where I want to live. Recently I moved out. I was on a month to month lease and gave my 30 day notice to my landlord. I moved out on August 5 and returned the keys on August 7. I had moved out on August 5 but took two additional days to clean the house. My landlord did not return my full deposit and took a 1/4 of my rent deposit for the additional two days.

Is this leagal?

Also he never provided me with a bank statement as to where the deposit was held and the interest rate is was receiving. I believe this is also illegal.

Lost as to whether I should go to small claims or not.

Those of you that are in my area. Please advise as to how I should handle this.

Thank you
