Holding company or just llc each property?

I am just getting started. I'm reading books and listening to podcasts to try to learn as much as possible before I purchase my first property. One of the questions I have is do you just put each property in an llc or do you put each property in an llc the in a holding company? Is there a benefit one way or another?
