Section 8 Tenant - Bounced Rent Check

We have a Section 8 tenant who's portion of the rent has bounced. She has gotten very defensive, and claims that she hasn't been notified by her bank. At this point, I'm trying to determine what the best course of action is. We are considering applying our $50 late fee at the moment, and are unsure if we should hand her a Pay or Quit notice.

I'm not sure if/how the Section 8 tenancy affects any of this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If her payment bounced, apply the late fee and start the eviction like you would any other tenant. You don't need to get emotional about it or react to her getting emotional. That's probably her defense mechanisms attempting to defend her mistake. Remind her of the policy, enact the policy, follow through until you've been paid in full or she's evicted.
