Terminating month to month lease North carolina

I live in Noth Carolina and I have tenants that I want out yesterday. I was reading the fastest and most simple way is to give them a 30 day notice and that’s that. However, I also read that in NC you only need to give a 7 day notice. Also, what if they don’t leave by the allotted time? Can anyone clarify any of this or point me in the right direction as to where to find more concrete answers? Thanks BP!
