I have yet to purchase a refrigerator, washer, and dryer for my first investment property and would like to know whether I should stick with big retailers like Lowes, or shop at local appliance stores?

First I would not supply the washer and dryer. This is something else you will be responsible for maintaining and fixing when it breaks. If you have a nicer house it is likely that your tenants will have their own and then you will have to remove these and store them.

If you have a Class C or maybe B property then I would stick with good used appliances and make sure the stove is self cleaning.

If you buy nice stainless appliances be prepared for a dent or 2 to show up.

I rarely buy new appliances because tenants, in my experience, do not take care of these like you as a homeowner would.
