Landlord controlled thermostats

Hi all,

First time posting here at PB- listening to the podcasts a while now so glad to be actually participating.

I own a 4 unit multi-family in the north east and was crushed this year by heating costs. This was our first winter with the property and come to find out each unit has thermostats that let the renters control their own heat.

I have seen that there are some different thermostat options that you can control remotely or set and lock. Anybody have a particular brand or model they have had success with?

Thanks!

I use the Honeywell 9000 series for my Vrbo. It has multiple levels of lockout. These are wifi so you can monitor temp setting, actual temp and humidity. You can set them up to send you alerts for temp or humidity out of range. This can alert you to a heating or cooling systems failure. I have heard some people setting up their heating cooling system to shutoff if a door or window is let open for a certain amount of time.

You can also add a temperature offset to make it look like it is a few degrees cooler or warmer than actual since sometimes temp setting is a mental thing.
