section 8 in Florida
Parents have a rental in Tallahassee Fl that they are not managing (renter hasn't paid since 11/18, they have no idea what the inside condition is, etc...) They are willing to turn it over to me but I live in North East Ga, over 7 hours away. My parents are asking a condition that I not evict the current tenant who use to receive section 8 assistance but hasn't for a couple of years now. My question is can I get the tenant to back into the section 8 program and then resubmit the house her to be able to stay there under that program?

I've had multiple prospective tenants that were on section 8 come to me and offer higher than my requested rent to max their voucher if I rented to them. From what little I have researched here in Tally, the program has a huge waiting list and it's difficult for people (even those that qualify) to get on it as they have a limited budget. It's actually quite appealing to me as the tenants have a lot to lose if they do something to your property that would cause them to get kicked out of the program.
Short answer I doubt there is anything you can do to get them back in as they most likely didn't something bad to get kicked out. Call the Tallahassee Housing Authority and you can discuss with a case worker. Look up number on Google I can't put the phone number here as it's against forum rules.
If this is a rental property with the purpose of making money why would your parents not want to evict? If you followed your parents rule to not evict why would you want to take a property with tenants that live for free possibly forever, while you are paying expenses?
Do your parents want to sell the property? I would like to have the option to buy if that's a possibility. PM if you have details
