In Need of a Lawyer And Some Advice!

Hello everyone!

I recently bought a fourplex in San Diego (October 2018). It was fully rented when I purchased the property. I received rent rolls from the property manager during escrow and also had the tenants sign estoppel agreements. Once escrow closed and the property was officially mine, I found out that one of the tenants was behind on rent and hasn't paid since June 2018. I had to go through the whole eviction process and finally got her out of the property.

I feel that the fourplex was misrepresented since this was never brought to my attention during escrow. Documents were even falsified to show that she was paying. I have spent several thousands of dollars on lawyers, fees, etc. due to this. Does anyone have any advice or know of a good lawyer I can talk to in San Diego that can help me with this? I was considering going to small claims court. Any suggestions?

P.S. Of course the seller, seller's agent and property manager are not returning my calls.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Regards,

Cristina

@Cristina Ruffini If the Seller's agent is not returning your phone calls, call the Seller's broker. They will probably want to know they're not returning your calls. Also, if the Seller's agent and the Property Manager have real estate licenses, investigate whether or not you have grounds to file a complaint with the California Department of Real Estate. That might get their attention.
