Tenant made a fire in my driveway!

Charlie B.
Posted

My tenant's lease is ending this month and she has been a handful these past few weeks. I won't go into all the other issues with her, but because of the trouble we recently installed security camera's which seemed to only piss her off more. Her and her BF recently made a small fire with wood and lighter fluid on our driveway (it's a gravel driveway so no real damage), which our camera's caught on tape. She seemed to make the fire right in view of the camera intentionally and she even waves to the camera. My question is can I call the policy and have her ticketed for this?

The police are not going to be of any assistance, they might at most tell her not to do it again. If she has less that a month left give notice now to do a inspection, go with a friend and record every square inch of the place. Tell her you are doing it so that if there is intentional damage done when she moves out you will bring criminal charges against her and her BF. It won't be true but she likely won't know that.
