New & Nervous - Searching For a Duplex To Buy & Rent

I am new to Bigger Pockets and have no idea what I'm doing. I've learned a lot about buying / renting out a duplex and hopefully one day owning a large rental properties, so I know this is how I want to invest my money to ensure that a passive income stream is coming back to my family from real estate but I don't actually know how to make my first duplex purchase. Help!

How do I:

- learn if the duplex is a good deal?

- know when it's the right one to buy?

Is there a link to an article / something on this site for the steps to buying / renting out a duplex?

I don't want to make mistakes because I'm new at this. So I'm hoping my nerves give me enough caution to ensure I make good decisions by asking for help!
