Water Submetering -- connecting meters
I have a multifamily where I would like to add water submeters. It's not very common in the Boston area but through BP I did find an investor who has worked with a plumber doing submeters in the area. Some units share hot water heaters so the plan is to actually do submeters on the hot and cold water for each unit.
Question: Is anybody successfully using wifi or other "smart" water meters. I know there are a few companies offering connected meters, but I have not found a lot of information or success stories on them. Ideally I would consistently bill tenants once a month for water without needing to physically read the meters. One alternative idea I've had is to actually use a wifi video camera that records the meters -- however that is not the most streamlined approach.
So is anyone using connected water submeters and how have they worked for you?
Thanks.
