Taking the Ex-Tenant to court

Hey BP community.

My tenant broke his lease, and signed an agreement saying he'd pay 2 months additional rent and loose sec. deposit for violating the lease. Coming up on time to pay and he emails saying he lost his job and will pay when he can. I'll be pursuing legal action, but any advice? Was hoping it would be straight forward enough to not need a lawyer.

Check with the clerk at the court dealing with small claims. They will advise you in regards to self representation. Probably advisable to get some guidance from your lawyer or paralegal.
