How high should my deductible be?

I have options of deductibles between $500 and $3000. The $3000 seems high but the premium is pretty dang low.

My question is, if I go with the $3000 deductible what kinds of expenses should I expect to pay out of pocket?

Are there even many claims that are less than $3000?

If I am going to file a claim for something isn’t it going to be for something much larger than $3000 anyways?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

@John Williams

I would recommend you carry as high a deductible as possible and make sure you have a fund set aside to cover it.  My day job has been in insurance for 25 years and I can tell you that you don't want to make small claims anyway, because it can make it hard to keep and get insurance in the future.
