Which AC brand to choose?

Hi all!

I'm replacing an AC unit in Houston and have been quoted 4k for a 14 seer 3 ton Goodman unit or 5K for a Trane with the same specs.

At first I was thinking I'd rather go with the better brand assuming it would last longer and be more cost effective in the long run (buy and hold), but I wonder if it would really be 25% more cost effective? Any HVAC techs or contractors out there have strong opinions?

Thanks!

Trane, no question. Goodmans are crap.
