Yet another Des Moines property mgmt company I'd never hire
Des Moines, Iowa area. I wrote before about a property management company in the area that I simply couldn't get ahold of. Changed phone numbers, voice mail tree, no return calls. No wonder that duplex has been for rent for 4 months.
This time, a company reached out to me on my vacant duplex. They stated they have "overflow" clients looking for 3 bedroom duplexes. Now, was this merely a ruse to meet with me and possibly try a sales pitch? I self manage, so I thought that could be the case. But, I figured, might as well meet with the guy.
And guess what? He didn't even bother to show up to the appointment that he made with me! That's fine. I just added his company to the list of property managers I will never hire in the area. And yes, in a few years or less I will be needing a property management company, as I do not plan to live in Iowa after I retire. By then, there might not be any companies left that I'd hire.
