Requiring renter's insurance -- how to implement

I assume you require the tenant to have you listed as additional insured on the renter's insurance policy. If you get a notice that the tenant has missed a payment, how do you respond? Do you serve a 7 day notice? How do you set this up in the lease? Thanks.
