Minor Foundation Issues Repair Costs

Hey All,

I am struggling with a contractor who is quoting me $5,000 to repair the whole in the brick foundation below. Have any of you had any experience making minor repairs to the one below? I need to understand the true cost of a repair as such, 5K is not realistic.

@Eric Reyes I would take @Will Gaston advice.  You may find that that hole is not a real issue, though.  This is often seen with additions so that the entire crawl space can be accessed.  In the perfect world there would be a lintel, but all of the bricks are at least marginally supported.  What are you being told is the issue with hole?  It appears that it merely leads in to another part of the crawl space.  It also shouldn't be structural.
