So I had to dance with the Building/Electrical Inspector for a couple of months as I rewired an entire home including a new panel.

He went through it several times picking out minor routing, stapling, GFI & AFCI issues. But I did get the final approved this week.

Meanwhile this has been like this outside their City Building for months????

Fascinating, around here unpermitted work is so ubiquitous the banks don't dare draw the line. It's never been an issue with my 100+ year old buildings, but perhaps newer ones are different. I've heard that some inspectors give DIY homeowners an especially hard time for taking work away from their contractor buddies who they'll let slide on all sorts of sloppy work.

I hate the fact that NM cable has the date printed on it! I keep a stash of old AC cable I've pulled to do work where it might be visible like in the basement.
