Rent insurance for tenants?
Hi everyone. I’m just curious about what’s everyone’s opinion on renters insurance? Do you guys make tenants get it? Do you guys leve it optional? Do you guys even mention it?
Does renters insurance benefit us landlords?
Thanks

I do not give them keys until they provide proof of renters insurance listing our company as additional interest. This helps confirm coverage or cancellations. The insurance covers their personal property and some liability in the case that a loss is their fault. Ask any insurance agent for their opinion. The other thing is it’s not a big ask for the tenant. They can usually find a good policy for $10-15 per month. Hope that helps.
