I’m a landlord in New York. I have a tenant that was paying $2000 for two years . She moved in her boyfriend with out telling me and I decided to increase her rent. Her new rent Is $2200 Is it appropriate to ask for 200 security deposit.

Yes!  You absolutely must increase the security to match the monthly rent.  In fact, most boilerplate lease agreements have this provision.  Educate your tenant by demonstrating that you're a professional.  That's how professionals do it.
