Rooms shade verbally abusive tenate

Becky Strunk
Posted

my mother is renting out a room in her home. There is no lease a verbal agreement. The tenants has become a seriously bad drunk who is verbally/mentally abusive toward her. He stays up till early morning drinking with friends on back porch, by her room keeping her up all night. She asked him to leave he said hes not paying and she has to file an eviction. Is there anyway of getting him out faster from what I've been told eviction can take months. As of right now hes up to date on rent with agreement half first week and half 2 weeks later.. pending today which he is suppose to pay, but claims he wont. I'm desperate to get him out of her home. He also occasionally uses drugs in her home..

@Becky Strunk You will want to consult with an attorney as they will know the specific tenant laws. I would also say that if he is using drugs in the home or has drugs in the home you could call the police. If he is being physically abusive you could get a restraining order.

The other option would be to offer to pay him something to find another place to live. In the future, I would suggest getting things in writing with a lease.
