Notice to quit from landlord signed but unsigned by state Marshal

Can my landlord give me a notice to quit if It was not signed by a state Marshall? And put In my mailbox?

A day after my landlord told me I have to leave in a text message. The notice to quit appeared in my mailbox. Is that legal?
