Tenant now requesting a receipt for each month's check

Hello all,

I have a tenant that has been somewhat of a problem tenant.  Disrespectful attitude and began calling about issues more than normal and then won't be available.  Now they have asked for a receipt for each months rent.  Rent is not in cash, it is in check in the postal mail

Is it standard to always provide a receipt for each month's check?  Would the bank statement be proof of rental checks?  I want have to mail this or physically deliver the receipt each month.

Thanks,

I would tell them their cancelled check is their receipt.

If you're open to it, you could also offer them the option of paying you via electronic means through a service like Cozy or Zelle or something like that.  It's free, automated, easier for you (no checks to cash), safer for the tenant (no checks to get lost in the mail), and it would create a record that would function just like a receipt.  Could be a win-win.
