Changing to a ductless AC/Heating Unit
Hi All,
I have a rental where the HVAC unit is really old. We believe it will kick in 1-2 years. The unit is on the roof with no access except by ladder. Internal parts of the HVAC are in the ceiling. So I am assuming they would need to rent a truck/crane to get the unit up on the roof, and then a special lifter to keep the unit in the air while they latch it in. It is only 740 Square-feet.
We want to know if anybody has converted their system into a Ductless Split System
Has anybody done this personally?
I think replacing the old unit will cost 10-12k because of the crappy setup.
Thanks!

I'm currently looking at a house that has a ductless AC unit in the living room. My concern for this property is that the two bedrooms would not get enough air. I don't know if it would be cheaper to upgrade the unit, get a regular AC unit or just buy two more for the other bed rooms. Changing to ductless may not be a bad idea. I'd look into a multi unit set up.
I found this on a quick google search:https://www.alpinehomeair.com/viewproduct.cfm?prod...
My current rental is 750 sqft and we have an older unit. My unit is in the attic and a monster. I plan on leaving it there when it goes and relocating outside. My cousin is a roofing contractor and deals with taking AC units off of roofs and junking them for cash, so, I would keep that in mind when you start talking to contractors.
AND AC companies will always tell you that your unit needs thousands of dollars in repairs but they will tell you that it is better to just replace it. I had an AC company come out and want to charge me $15,000 for a new AC. $15,000 for a AC system for a 750 square foot house.
