broker for PM company in Albany, NY

Hello,

I own a property management company outisde of Albany NY. I am a licensed salesperson but not a broker. I work under the licnese of a broker I know, who just told me he is retiring in a couple of week. Will the state give me a grace period to get my own license, or do I need to panic and find a new broker?
