Turning a housing complex into 'Senior' housing
Hello BP Community! I am looking for some feedback from anyone who has experience with Senior Housing projects. Not an ALF or Skilled Nursing Facility, but Senior Housing in the 55+ only Mobile Home Park sense. I have a pending contract on a housing complex (mix of SFHs and Duplexes) that I would like to have as rental units for Seniors only. Mostly hoping for a better class of tenants (I know it's no guarantee) rather than general public renters, who have to this point pretty much trashed this place. Is there a Senior Housing designation that can be attained from HUD or other agencies in Florida that would protect me against age discrimination? Any other advantages/disadvantages to this strategy?
Thanks for any input!
Reid
