Eviction in Connecticut

Hi Guys,

Im passing thru a tough time with one of my tenants.

She cant afford rent and I offered her a month for free if she leaves on Mat 1st. She signed a contract stating tha she will leave by May 1st, 2018. Last night she said you will have to evict me because I havent find a place yet. This tenant-landlord hasnt being easy.

This is a tough part of being a landlord. Can you give me any suggestions and also recommend a good eviction lawyer in Connecticut? Im located in West Haven, CT (new haven county)

Thank you

    Hey @Andres Bernal

I have done my own evictions. If you have the time and can deal with the stress, you can do it yourself (as long as you don't own the property in an LLC).

If the tenant drags it out and does all the steps, it averages me 3 months from when it starts. If you get a lawyer, they may be able to convince the  tenant to leave earlier, at least that is what I have heard lawyers say.

If you want to try it on your own, you can go to https://www.jud.ct.gov/faq/landlord.html to learn the process.
