Section 8 in Baltimore City

Hi BP,

I am looking at a duplex in Baltimore city that i'd like to run some numbers on assuming section 8 rentals. The top half of the duplex is a 4 bedroom / 1 full bath and the bottom is also 4 bedroom / 1 full bath. My question is what the legal requirements are to rent this property to a 4 bedroom voucher tenant. Must there be a living room in which case they would be 3 bedroom? Is there a requirement of the number of baths? Also can someone point me to a resource that lays out what the vouchers are currently at?

Thanks in advance

Sebastian

Many times, Section 8 in the Baltimore area will end up paying more than market rent. However, even though they did, in my experience, they still asked me to give them comps on nearby rental units.

Just like most expect, if it's a 4 bedroom place, then it needs to have 4 actual bedrooms. Not a living room called a bedroom. GoSection8 website is where you'd post your listing. And you can not get your unit inspected until you have already approved a voucher applicant (but not signed a lease, of course).
