Mother in law suite in SFH
I was wondering about people's experience with renting these houses. Do potential tenants in the main part of the house get turned off by the fact that someone else will be living in an attached apt? Do you need to offer lower rent to attract them?

Your first question should be is the MIL suite a legal second unit? If it is, then the proper name for this is "duplex". Generally, yes, duplexes are going to get a little less rent than a SFR. You should do a rent survey for your area and try to figure out if this is a small or large difference. Also think about utility issues.
