Fire damage to rented home

Hello BP!

Our SFH rental in southern Idaho was severely damaged by a fire. The investigation is incomplete, but is suspected to have started outside the home. I have a Landord policy covering the dwelling, appliances, etc. Unfortunately, the tenants appear not to have a renter's policy; very sad. It's very unlikely to have been related to the home's systems, since it's a brand-new house.

I believe I have a handle on how to proceed, but I’d appreciate any advice on how to handle security deposits with regard to cause, and tips on dealing with insurance.

Thanks!

Geoff
